Overview
Colette Magazine is a quarterly publication that is devoted to the dissemination of art and avant-garde culture. The magazine showcases artists and writers whose innovations in style, form, and subject-matter challenge the validity of the acceptable and established.
The magazine provides a lavishly illustrated, visually challenging experience and targets middle to upper class adults, aged 32-55, looking to push the aesthetic boundaries of societal norms.
Solution
The magazine’s eye-catching, intriguing covers are visually alluding to its imaginative contents. Dramatic images, unique typefaces, and a contrasting layout hierarchy differentiate it from contemporary art magazines.
The logo's typeface, The Laundry Room, combines simple straight lines with quirky curves, emphasizing the surrealistic vibe. Stylized Canopee, Traviata and Flecha catch the reader's attention and make a strong visual impact. Brown and Caslon balance the copy with their simple lines, lending a tone of intellect and sophistication.
